#123 ~ Admiring You

Often there is a layer of foil

Slipped between the crack of perspex

Shimmering a mirage

That wavers along the contours

Of that familiar visage, at times distorted

The mental image at odds with tissue like scars

And cracked-lip smiles.

Removing that foil

Crinkled in familiar patterns

That aid the distortion of the narcissistic pattern

of Association, one sees

The crumpled visage of another

Noticing – it’s actually quite poignant

With a mirage his-story of its own

Choosing

to look at a mirror, or through the window

to another human being, identified, grammatically, not as Me

but You.
