Breaking the silence can involve a lot of humiliation and embarrassment on your part. But embrace it. Because when the ice breaks it often sounds like the tinkling of joyous laughter warming a frosty day.

    How does one embrace the wind, and what if it is not a tinkling but a raucous or even booming sound that is evoked?

    Stretch out your arms as wide as they’ll go. Smile until you can smile no more. And in your mind transpose that booming sound into a funk-tastic melody, that raucous cry into wild applause, and then walk on by with your head held high ready to set off another avalanche.
